"You will learn and grow according to the nature and consequences of your actions." -Robert Anthony
What came first, your habits or your belief that those habits are just the way you are? It could be one or the other. If you believe that you’re a person who has a hard time waking up early in the morning, you might have a habit of hitting the snooze button several times. Or, maybe your habit of hitting the snooze button is actually confirming your belief that you have a hard time waking up in the morning.
We can often change the beliefs we hold about ourselves by changing our habits. Do you have a habit that confirms a belief about yourself? Is that habit serving you — or is it confirming some belief about yourself that you wish was different?
By choosing and committing to a new habit, you will actually believe that you are that type of person. Why? Because you will have created proof based on your actions. That belief will make it easier for your new habit to become an actual habit. It will be who you are rather than who you want to be "someday."
ACTION IDEA:
What is one habit that would support you in being the type of person you truly want to be? For example, if you want to be a more courageous person, then create the habit of taking a risk a day. If you want to be a more loving person, then create the habit of doing something loving each day. If you want to be a healthier person, then create the habit of exercising each day.
By the end of 30 days — after you commit and persist with your new habit — I guarantee you will have a new perspective and belief about who you are. Then you can choose the next habit that you want to develop and strengthen.
